2013 秋季合宿ガイド Fall Gassyuku Guide

There are Formal game and Free game. Formal one is called "Gassyuku League match" and Free ones are called 'Friendly match'

All players should play formal ones at first.After completing formal ones , You can play Free games.

Formal games are played among the same Class members. Players are assigned the Class (A trhough D) depending on his rank.
Free game is a free-style match with other class players.

All participants are classified into 4 classes (A ,B ,C and D ) by his strength, Tournament will be take place in each class using Handicap game based on IBM Japan specific rules. (We call this "Magata Rule")

This time, the number of players in each class is as follows

classA:9 classB:9 classC:9 classD:9

Each player will have a game with....

• All players in his class
• Mitsunaga pro (our teacher)
• Same position player of other group class (A & C, B & D)

All players should play with all other players in the same class.

So, in case of class A, there are 10 people (including teacher). so player will play 9 games and one more extra game with C class member of the same position ) Total 10 games.

Mitsunaga Junzoh Sensei(teacher)is Nihon-Kiin 6dan Japanese Professional player. He takes part in this tournament (all classes). His rank is 11 dan and would play with 3 or 4 players simultaneously.

No restriction of game sequence , please find your opponent by yourself and play in your own pace. Be sure to complete all formal games by 2nd day midnight.

After the Formal game, if you have time, you can play the Friendship match games. You can play any person except the Formal game memers. Default time rule is 30 minutes, but you can change this any setting by each player's agreement.

Time Rule

We use absolute time rule. Chess clock are used for all games. 45 minutes are given each player.If you had lost your time, that means you loose the game even if any good condtion you have on the board.. Please complete your game within that restricted time. Anyway be careful to keep your time.

In free game,it depends on 2 player's negotiation.No time limit game is OK if 2 players agree.

Result record

Usually, winner should record the result on the chart by red felt pen. The name on the left edge is you , and name on the top is your opponent.

Since our teacher is too busy, please record the teaching game result regardless the result.

Handicap

Handicap is based on Magata rule.(both formal one and free one) Magata rule was named by his originator Magata Hisashi san who is one of our member.

In Magata rule, the rank was determined by 0.5 dan scale.(in the case 3dan up) That means next to 3dan is not 4dan but 3.5dan ! also there is 4.5dan ,5.5dan ,6.5dan. Then the difference between the player determins the handicap as follows.

B is black, W is white

Above is our handy setting chart. For example,the game between 4.5dan and 6.0 dan, there are 1.5dan difference. 4.5dan player put 2stones as a handi and should make a 0.5point komi, this means, if the game was ended quite same score. 4.5dan player loose that game.

In case of kyu rank plyaers, 1Kyu is estimated as 0dan and 2Kyu is -1dan, for example 2kyu and 3.5dan , there are 4.5dan difference. so 5stone (komi 0.5 from B)is a handicap in this case..

Final evaluation

Japan torunament manager and coordinator would calculate all of this matter at the end. Use each criteria related below, Use 1st one and if it is same evaluated by 2nd criteria.

Formal game evaluation.

1. Winning ratio
2. Total Number of your opponent's victories [SOS]
3. Total Number of your opponent(you won)'s victories
4. Result among the members with the same score of all of above.
5. Position (lower is superior.)

Free game evaluation

1. Number of you won over (Victory - Loose)
2. Number of you play
3. Posision (lower is superior)

For example 8-1 score is better than 10-4 score. and 10-2 is better than 8-0.

Prize

Formal game 1st(4K), 2nd(3K), 3rd(2K),4th(1K) in each class are rewarded something.

Free game 1st(3K), 2nd(2.5K), 3rd(2K) ,4th(1.5K) ,5th(1K) rewarded something.

It is precious time to make some exercise during long time Baduk match.

We will go hiking to Tomi san (Mountain) whos scene from the top is so nice.
